Similar to the fruit of original sin, the soccer ball is turning into a weapon of mass destruction, which the artist expresses it as a ball with sharpened nails rolling on the surface of the world map. Today, it now seems that soccer is becoming a contemporary and improvised religion, a real unifying tool. This project was born out of Amine El Gotaibi’s incomprehension of the world’s devotion to soccer and its in influence on the masses. Using an interdisciplinary approach, New religion aims to redefine the concept of religious precepts that have united the masses over the years.

Today, it now seems that soccer is becoming a contemporary and improvised religion, a real unifying tool. This project was born out of Amine El Gotaibi’s incomprehension of the world’s devotion to soccer and its influence on the masses. Using an interdisciplinary approach, New religion aims to redefinne the concept of religious precepts that have united the masses over the years.

Concerned about the potentially worrisome e ects of this sport, El Gotaibi questions the irrational adoration it inspires, attempting to identify the void that exists in societies in which football is practiced as devoutly as any faith. Telephage, time-consuming and phagocyte of the mind, "soccer games have been able to create communion and synergy between people where religions have failed."
