Houda Kabbaj is an artist photographer. A few years after graduating from the École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, she committed herself to her artwork. She was the assistant of the printmaker Diamantino Quintas for over a year in Paris. In 2023, she built her own darkroom and analog photography studio.

Her work is based on experiments conducted in various types of landscapes and in her analog photographic workshop-laboratory. In natural environments, she takes long walks focused on capturing photographs, collecting materials, observing wildlife, and making various recordings. Houda Kabbaj has undertaken numerous journeys in different territories, ranging from the humid jungle of Peru to the Moroccan desert. The natural elements observed or recorded are then transcribed, interpreted, and transformed photographically in her laboratory. She is particularly interested in the intersections between the intrinsic materiality of photography and various natural properties.
